Last night The First Supper was blessed with a won Last night The First Supper was blessed with a wonderful Amsterdam 750 Stille Omgang evening. As a group we walked the annual Stille Omgang, a silent procession through the historic heart of Amsterdam. We spend quality time in the Christchurch chapel and in de Papegaai. And… we enjoyed a delicious tasty (thank you Adam and Ksenia) First Supper dinner while having good conversations about our individual pilgrimages at a long table in the historic fellowship room. There was a nice mix of people from all sorts of backgrounds and places. New friendships were made. Hearts were stirred. Next year we will walk this procession together again. Thankful this event could be co-hosted from within Christchurch 🙏☺️😇

Last night The First Supper attended a very specia Last night The First Supper attended a very special evening at the table in “Kleiklooster” in Bijlmer. Kleiklooster is a Christian community and hidden gem that has been around for 10 years, applying what is in the Bible in how they live. By the way they have also been the birthplace of Kleiburg beer. At their table there is always room for a stranger, no matter who you are or what you believe, during their Wednesday evening supper. Providing home and shelter every night to a handful of refugees and or most vulnerable people. Praying and worshiping together after dinner. It was a wonderful lively family supper, noisy, laughter, good conversation. Lots of young children. A venue also for neighborhood connection, praying for the K-neighborhood every day. What was very special: The cross in the worship room (refer picture, source: the internet) is transparent. So during after dinner worship time, through the cross you have a view on the K-neighborhood in Bijlmer while praying for it 😇 magic! #Kleiklooster #Hiddengem #bijlmer
Stadsklooster Dordt. A great getaway from Amsterd Stadsklooster Dordt. A great getaway from Amsterdam.

Last Friday and Saturday night I stayed at Stadsklooster Dordt. The First Supper highly recommends this place for your mini pilgrimage and/or stay together with a friend or family member.

By the way this hostel is on “the Camino” the way to Santiago de Compostela. There was a guest who had just started walking it, and had another 2000 km’s to go…

The place exists for well over a year now. Founded by some wonderful entrepreneurs who see warm hearted hospitality as their larger calling.

I arrived by train (10 minute walk from the station) and slept in a very affordable comfortable Pod. I joined the supper at the Friday evening communal table for 15 euros and met locals, travellers, volunteers and hosts, having interesting walk of life conversations. The Friday evening I attended the after dinner Christian worship hour, with singing, prayer, music instruments, which was all beautifully connecting and meditative.

Highly recommend the guided walking tour to discover an overlooked very historic beautiful Dordrecht. Many local churches, canals, harbor, riverside walk, historic buildings and stories. I had no idea…

With sufficient interest The First Supper will host a group pilgrimage / 24 hours to the Stadsklooster and the historic town of Dordrecht. On that event I will tell you the story why this picture with a dressed up sheep 😉

Let us know if in case of interest.

A long and winding road… The First Supper always A long and winding road… The First Supper always likes these hidden sacred places, in this case a well hidden chapel right in the middle of the bustling “de Pijp” neighborhood in Amsterdam-Zuid. Pretty much always open. A perfect place for meditation, prayer or silence as you wish. Today we noticed a fresh new painting, picturing this sacred chapel along a long and winding road. No further inspiration needed 🙏😇
This is what First Supper Amsterdam is about. An e This is what First Supper Amsterdam is about. An evening with lively conversations, new connections and friendships made. In a lively connecting way, finding deeper meaning to guide our walk of lives, fueled by both a wonderful hearty meal, and by chewing on Jesus story and teachings of the Good Samaritan. A Biblical story but with full respect to different backgrounds and believes present at the table. For an evening the First Supper guests stepped out of their bubbles into the world of the Diaconie that has lived the “barmhartigheid” of the Good Samaritan story for centuries. It opened our eyes. At Wereldhuis we humbly learned a lot about pure, honest, compassionate “barmhartigheid”. Wereldhuis being a foundation that provides much needed heartwarming support for and by a community of non documented refugees, folks that would otherwise fall through the mazes of the net. Folks that hosted us for an evening. The evening and conversations with them in particular served as a mirror and opened our hearts. We concluded the event on a high note, singing Lean on Me (Bill Withers) all together. All proceeds of the evening go to Wereldhuis. Thank you Diaconie and Wereldhuis for hosting us!
Tonight the very second event of First Supper Amst Tonight the very second event of First Supper Amsterdam. Looking forward to connection, meaningful conversations and learning all about the Diaconie and the work done by Wereldhuis. In between last minute earthly preparations and a quick local coffee, I found some peace during a service which happened to take place in historic Sint Agnes church in A’dam Zuid, on this Thursday morning. The picture captures the Biblical Christmas story depicted within in a beautifully decorated intimate chapel. Highly recommend this historic church, it is well worth visiting.
Just one week to go: on 12th December The First Su Just one week to go: on 12th December The First Supper will visit the Diaconie, a place that has been driven by “barmhartigheid” for centuries. Initially a place of refuge for those in need, today a place and community of charitable initiatives. Underpinned by the story of the Good Samaratan (Luke 10: 25-37). We will combine a walk to discover the place with a supper in one of the historic cellars Curious, looking to meet others at the table, have some meaningful conversations and more broadly connect to this city? There are a couple of seats left especially for you. Be welcome in the First Supper community !
The Shelter city is a hostel with a long history o The Shelter city is a hostel with a long history of warm hearted hospitality to visitors from all nations coming to Amsterdam. Currently there is a major renovation going on ahead of a reopening in late 2025/early 2026. The First Supper us thankful to be able to support the reopening of this connecting place. Sometimes it is good to be a ‘tourist’ for (ha Sometimes it is good to be a ‘tourist’ for (half) a day close to where you live. The First Supper visited the Corrie ten Boom huis in the center of Haarlem this afternoon.

Highly recommend the one hour tour which reveals the story of a deeply Christian family holding on to and living their faith in the dangerous act of hiding Jews and members of the resistance in their house during World War Two. In the house you still feel the history and everything that has taken place as if it were today.

In the story well explained during the tour, it is touching how Corrie and her sister were able to see Gods presence even in the darkest moments in prison and in the camps (inspired by Psalm 91) and deeply touching to hear how Corrie after the war was able to forgive one of her Ravensbruck SS camp guards when he asked her to forgive her in person. Also amazing to see the many miracles that took place in her lifestory as it unfolded…

Very likely a First Supper event including a visit to the Corrie ten Boom house is coming up in spring. In case of interest send me a DM. Robert
